I thought they had declined me because of the bankruptcy on my record, but letter said it was because of the collection. I went ahead and called the backdoor number and someone looked at my application. I let them know that the collection was erroneous and now removed, but that of course I had a 3 year old bankruptcy on my file. Person I talked to said that at least 2 years postbankruptcy and no negatives since wouldn't be a problem and suggested that I reapply 45 days from the date of my previous application. I want to wait for my score to go past 700 before applying again, I would be applying for the Discover More student card.
Unfortunately they do pull TU and I have 7 inquiries on TU. Drops to 6 in August. Might be able to get one removed as mortgage company pulled my credit when we clearly told them we only wanted my husband on the mortgage.
I'm not worried about AAoA, I'm still over 6 years with the new accounts reporting.
So, wait for August or a whole year?

5 in the last 6 months, 4 if I get the one I didn't agree to removed. It should be under 2 in the last 6 months around Sept 23rd.
I would try again in 6 months.
