I got a Walmart Credit Card last March. Beginning limit was 750.00 In June they raised my limit to 1050.00 I have used the card every month, generally charging from 200-300 per month, paid in full before due date each time. One month I did charge over 400 though and I have since read that's not ever a good idea but I paid it off in full before the due date. I have read that they usually give credit limit increases about every 4 months. Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions on the best ways to get increases from Walmart.
I have gotten CLI's 4 months apart so yes I would say it is true. I went from $1,200---> 4 months later $2,200 ----> 4 months later $5,000. I intend to ask again in another 4 months.
@networth--OMG, that's wonderful. Those are some great increases. This Walmart Card is my first "real credit card". I say real because my others are rebuilders. I have a capital one 1000.00 limit. Another capital one (was Orchard 300.00 limit--I just asked for an increase but got the letter is in the mail line so I doubt I will get it.) First Premier-started with 300 limit now at 600.00 and credit one bank that started at 300 then teased me in a month with an increase to 450.00. UGH!
I was able to get a mortgage with Chase bank and closed last Janurary because of those rebuilders so they did their job but I cant wait to get to the point I can get some major credit cards like Discover or Citi then I will cancel all the cards that charge me fees. .
Yeah GE has been very easy with me when to CLI's. I would definatly ask for one once your 4th statment cuts. Call Credit Solutions the number is listed in the sticky up top. I have seemed to have better luck getting larger CLI by phone than by hitting the "luv" button. As long as you put some money through the card and PIF I think you have a good shot. Congrats on rebuilding too. One day Chase, Amex, Citi will be paying you take their cards . Best of luck!
Thank you so much. I sure hope you are right about the good cards wanting me someday. I have zero lates, pay in full on all cards and keep utilization below 30% on all now that I know to do that from lurking here. I was charging more than the 30% before I knew better but I still paid in full each month. I pay a small amount extra on my mortgage each month also. My transunion fico according to walmart is 720. Credit Karma fako is 761 but equifax (by equifax complete) is very low, 682. I dont know why. It has the same information. Credit One Bank gives me an experian score of 739 but I dont believe it is a real fico score...just another fako I think.
Unfortunately, my oldest card is only 3 years old and due to getting the rebuilder cards and a house I have a lot of hard pulls on my reports so I cant apply for anything else for awhile. Next year at least. sigh.
This is very interesting to note. I think i am going to wait till december to try for an cli when my amex is also eligible for an cli. I will do them together. How often do you use the cards, does that matter with cli?
Ive used the Walmart credit card every month since Ive had it. As for the others, I try to use at least 2 others each month (then rotate) up to 30% which with my low limits isnt very hard to do. I pay in full each month. I dont know if I am doing the right thing or not.
Not sure if you were asking me monstradamus. But I use my Walmart maybe once or twice every 4 months. I got there for bath products, toothpaste, body soap, razor blades ect. So it doesn't appear that usage plays a big role on CLI for Walmart/GE at least in my case. I got the card years ago when I had just gotten a new apartment and needed it furnished lol. Now it just lays around unless I run out of soap. I keep it around mainly for the free FICO report and the easy CLI's.

I have had my walmart card since june, haven't used it once, was wondering if that is going to count against me if i try for an cli in december. I guess i could go an buy an bottled water just to show some usage.
I had a friend who got approved for a walmart discover card on the same day I got approved for my walmart card. We both applied online on the same computer just mins apart. He didnt use his at all and he didnt get an increase at 4 months. He then used his card once and got an increase at six months.
