Just wanted to share my recent success with you guys. I started with a FICO score of about 630 back in June (No history besides a few student loans reporting) and now I've reached these scores: Exp: 688 Trans: 725 Equi: 695 (All FICO) and I am pretty happy to say the least!
As far as my app spree:
American Express Delta Skymiles: Declined :/ all 3 CRA's pulled (will try again after 6-12 months of gardening)
Discover Motiva: Approved with a $1500 CL (received an invitation for the More card but was counter-offered)
Paypal Rewards MC: Approved with a $1000 limit
Walmart Discover: Approved with a $1000 limit
Barclays Extra Rewards NFL : Approved with a $500 limit (will not be keeping this card.. regretfully I really will not need it/want it)
Thanks again for all the help received through searches on here..I'm EXTREMELY excited to grow with these cards. Now for the next year I'll be gardening so that I can app for an Amex revolver and Chase Sapphire :-)
Where are your credit union applications with low apr for purchases and cash advances. Think insurance!
I just got into a credit union a few weeks ago.. I'm going to build some positive banking history with them and then hopefully app next year ![]()

Congrats!! Better get to the garden now!!!!! Weird that you didn't get Amex.
I got approved for Discover Motiva, and then the same night, got approved for Amex BCE!! Score was 696 TU Fico.
Honestly that was a devastating denial for me! I was really looking forward to having that Amex
. I'm guessing that an unpaid collection from a few years ago + my 9 inquiries may be the reason why. I'll get a PFD and garden for a few months and then try again.

In my experience; I got approved with amex on a NPSL charge card with collections that were paid. Good luck to you.
Thanks! I will try again next year. Looking for a charge card and maybe the BCE.
