Hello everyone!
GE/Synchrony store cards version to visa or m/c upgrade and auto CLI
I am rebuilding my credit from a BK filed 7/2012, discharge 11/2012, and working with a credit repair agent to correct some baddies on my student loans wrongfully reported. At this moment I have been approve for a total of 10 credits cards....the Discover It, and the rest are store version credit cards. Here is my list: Best Buy $1,000 (3/2014), Old Navy $200 (5/2014), Victoria Secret $250 (5/2014), Amazon Store $600 (5/2014), PayPal SmartConect $500 (5/2014), Discover it $1,000 (6/2014), Macys $600 (6/2014), JCPenney $200 (7/2014), QVC $400 (7/2014) & TJMaxx $250 (7/2014).
I am gardening for a whole year...because I really want the Chase Freedom or the BOA cash rewards or Amex blue rewards. At this moment my CScores are 600-670's
Here is my question for my upgrade able GE store cards. Did they upgrade to their visa or m/c? When? How often they auto CLI? If possible if I use it wisely, PIF every month to get their visa/MC version before August 2015....if my scores at that date reach the 700's?
Old Navy $200 (5/2014) to visa version
PayPal SmartConect $500 (5/2014) to visa version
JCPenney $200 (7/2014) to MasterCard version
TJMaxx $250 (7/2014) to MasterCard version

With the Old Navy, JCP, and TJX cards, there are folks who have gotten the upgrade offers. It's a wait and see deal.
I don''t believe the PayPal SmartConnect ever upgrades, but perhaps someone has a story on that one.
My Walmart took 26 months and SmartConnect as far as I know never. YMMV

Also just FYI, both Comenity and GE close your store card, transfer everything to the new card and start reporting a new TL, so if you are sensitive to AAoA decreasing, it's something to know.
Why would it hurt AAoA if they transfer everything to the new card? you mean they would transfer the balance and not the account history-open date etc ?

Correct from a store card to a credit card will be a new trade line with GE.
