from my research its more related to length of relationship with them. I see people with 650's and some with 799's both with serveral years of having the card. Also limits are taken into account as well, if your account is stuck at $150 don't expect an upgrade may have to request some CLI's along hte way.

Re: GE cards upgrade

I had the store card for 2 1/2 years, because it took a long time to get my credit scores up.  I had over 20 baddies on my report at one time.

Re: GE cards upgrade

kobe2012, keep in mind that score seems to be not the only factor (or maybe it's even not the important one) considered while offering you an upgrade. Same applies to the credit limit itself. It seems that what really factors in is the age of that particular account, but that's my personal observation.

As an example, I have Walmart store card opened in Jan 2012 currently with $2000 limit and at the same time I have a separate Discover More card (so seems that I am generally eligible for Discover products). Nonetheless, I don't get an offer to upgrade to Walmart Discover, but as I've seen here there were people getting those offers with smaller CLs and lower scores, so really YMMV.

Unless your account is already several years old and has not seen any CLIs so far (almost impossible in case of GE, I think) you shouldn't worry about this at all, IMHO.

In my wallet now: Amex PRG NPSL, Amex BCE $15k $17k (thanks to recent CLI), Chase Freedom 11k, CSP $6k, Chase United ME $5k, Citi Dividend $5.6k, Discover It $4.5k and a handful of other cards...
TU Dec 2013 - 752Sep 2013 - 764 - new all time maximum

Obsolete data aboveCurrent TU - probably around ~810, only using a few Chase & BofA cards now, not applying for much until we buy a house
