GW Letter questions

Hi all,

I see three accounts on my credit reports showing negative info, i.e. late payments. I am debating to see if a GW letter will help. So my first question is are sending these letters worth the shot? Secondly the accounts are with Emerge Visa, Capital One, and Providian Bancorp and list contact addresses on the credit report to reach them are those addresses good to use?

Emerge Visa I just paid off with a consolidation loan, and the Capital One is an older closed account, I have 2 current one's with good payment history and recently paid them off with the same consolidation loan. Providian was closed long ago and I dont have the account #'s nor are any last 4 digits listed on the credit reports. The Providian one I thought I included in my BK from 1999, but doesnt seem so. The late marks are from as far back as 2002 to 2006.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Re: GW Letter questions

My experience is that it is definitely worth a shot. I got rid of all three of my old baddies with GW's. Check out Tuscani's thread on GW letter templates, then tailor it for your own circumstances. Try this address for CapOne- it worked for me, although it did eventually get routed to some place in Virginia: Capital One Services, Attn: Credit Reporting Department, PO Box 30281, Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0821
