Just got approved for a Discover More card! $1,000 limit. I have been gardening since August of 2011, but had the app itch get the best of me, but it was worth it! In Gardeing mode until April of 2013! Than bringing Amex home(and hopefully a backdate from 2000).

Hey, I'm still here, and of my own volition. I'm determined not to go anywhere until my CA and COs drop off over the summer. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the peace and serenity of the garden.

A month and a half app free
Loving it! had to charge a $4k septic repair to my NFCU account, along with some wedding expenses... its the only CC that has a real balance now so working to pay that down! Discover has a $900 balance that will be paid off on the 1st.
For those of ya'll in the garden, how do you handle unexpected expenses that you have to charge? I wish I was in the position to have about 5k sitting in savings, but unfortunately I do not at this time, due to spending all my savings as a down payment on the house.

I've had to finance major dental work through my MBNA card. I was younger, naive, and thought that just because it was on my credit card, I could pay the minimum and eventually the debt would go away. It was between 6K and 8K that went on my card at 14.24%.
Now, I know better.
If I HAVE to do a major purchase like that, I'd put it on the card but restructure my budget to pay down the debt aggressively. Life happens and you can't always plan for it, but while I don't have emergency situations, I'm placing money aggressively in savings.

Lucky for us, we have about 6500 left in our monthly budget after paying both mortgages, utilities, car payment. All of our other bills (cell phone, direct tv) as well as gas/food/incidentals are charged to Amex, which gets paid off, last month our Amex bill was 2900... This month it will be less than 2k, and we'll pay it on the 1st as well. My fiance and I bring home about 11,700/month, so we are very fortunate and blessed. I'm carrying a higher debt load than normal right now, because we've cash flowed things for the house and wedding through Amex, as well as a cruise that cost 4200 (through Discover Travel Desk) which we'll take at the end of May for our honeymoon. The septic deal was unexpected, and we both talked about how we will really focus on getting that thing paid off within 2 months. We just bought half of a hog for $200 which will give us enough pork to last the entire year, We also have deer, fish, and other meat, so we won't be spending as much on groceries for the next few months. (yes we are very redneck)
The fact that I can't pay that septic tank balance off right away is really really bothering me... but Joey knows me well enough to know that we'll live on the groceries in the pantry and deep freezer til its paid off and we will cut back on our spending for restaurants and toys. I think we'll be fine once the big expenses start settling down, new decorations for the house, new fridge, settling an old debt, wedding decorations and dress, cruise... I just want the expenses to stop! I hope that after we get married thing will settle down and we can get everything more under control. At least the whole balance will be on just one card!

I am back to gardening for a year after a little app spree to upgrade my cards.
I replaced a $500 limit Capital one starter card with the Discover More 1.5K limit card
I replaced a $500 limit Wells Fargo College card with the Chase Freedim 3K limit card
I just got the Amex Zync charge card as well.
Now I will be gardening for the next year and hopefully getting the Chase Shappire card in 2013.
