Hi All! New to the boards and had to head straight to the garden. I have been CC app free since undergrad (~13yrs ago) but decided to apply for the AMEX Gold after receiving a preapproval in the mail for the Green. Usually, I throw all CC offers in the trash when they arrive in the mail but since I had just closed on a new house in August, I felt the urge to rebuild some revolving credit...and secure some extra funds to decorate the house, of course ;-) Anyways, that instant approval lead to an instant addiction and before I knew it...I was searching and applying for every card that I could
. After applying for the Sam's Club Discover today and getting the 7-10 day message...I decided that I must send myself to rehab
so...here I am in the garden. My goal is to nurture my new CCs and watch my credit grow w/o applying for any new CCs through at least April 2013. I'm already itching for a new app so I will really need your support to make this goal a reality
Happy gardening!

I was declined for the NFL visa on October 13th for too many new accounts and recent inquiries. Luckily it only affected my Transunion score, but I still need to be more cautious in the future. I'll be in the garden until January 2013, at which time I'll app for the Amex BCE and possibly the Citi Forward student.

were you just like sitting at the bar around a bunch of people and be like ohh i think its a good time to app for a credit card.
im seriously just thinking about it though. im not calling you out ![]()
but i do gotta say it was nice to put a tab on my amex...
for four people that it would be around 150 but walked out with paying 60 including tip. i mean they also bought some drinks but not as much.

Sorry to have been gone for so long, but I'm back and feeling much better.
Welcome to our new gardeners, and congratulations to those members who have "leveled up" on their spades, have received score boosts, or have received soft CLIs! Nice job!
I have happy news to report. My EQ score went up to 723 this month, so I'm back to where I was exactly before my Aug app spree! And, my TU score went even higher, coming in at 725! Since I'm still being "dinged" for "too many new accounts," I can rest assured that if I continue to garden and manage my accounts responsibly, I have the potential for my scores to continue to inch their way upwards.
I'm also continuing to manage my DH's accounts for him, and he received a very nice increase on his Lowe's card -- from $6503 -> $8500. Not bad for a card that started out at $300 a year and a half ago.
All in all, it's been a good month so far. ![]()
