Hey MJ!
Garden strong and marked as in attendance and have to ask....How's the little one
I figure it's time I checked in around here... I guess I just hit the bronze spade?
Because of a private student loan default and judgment several years ago, along with a few smaller mistakes in my early twenties, I assumed that rebuilding my credit would never be an option for me. But when I signed up for Credit Karma in May, I saw that things might not be completely hopeless.
In May, I got an unsecured Cap 1 MC with a $500 limit and a $39 AF. In June, I remembered I had a NFCU account and got a $10,000 cashRewards Visa. In July, I got navcheck for $2,000. In September, I got a pre-approved offer for the Discover It and got a limit of $2,500. Somewhere in there, I got added as an AU to my partner's BOA cash rewards. In October, I got a $2,500 increase on NFCU with a SP. I'm set for a "pre-approved" CLI on Cap 1 after this month's statement (we'll see).
Not including the navcheck, I went from $0 to almost $20,000 in revolving credit in about 6 months, with 5% utilization. I have 4 HP spread out over the CRAs, my last app was 9/27/2013, and I plan on staying put until 3/2014. At that point, 2 baddies will fall off my TU report, I'll hit 6 months with Discover, and I'll start trying to improve Cap 1 or will go ahead and close the account.
In the meantime, I've sent a few goodwill adjustment letters for old paid chargeoffs that are set to fall off next August, and I've been lurking around here
When I type all that out and put all that stuff in my signature, I feel pretty darned accomplished!
I hope you do too, If you don't mind me inquiring, how old is your BK? I know that Amex isn't fond of BK's but with time that might change. And that's good, I have the PRG as well, and it is a wonderful card, it's just I'd rather have revolver now rather then a charge card, and those two would make the most sense for me compared to the other cards they offer.
