Afternoon, GC!

Well, I picked up my silver spade on the 10th only to now have to turn it in today on the 13th.

Barclay raised the stakes on their pursuit of me and offered 12 months 0% APR on purchases and BTs (still a fee for doing the BT) on their Rewards MC. It's not the Aspiring Prime or Average Credit versions they were offering me before. I'm sure its a step below excellent credit (because I don't have that). They claim it was an exclusive offer though. Anyway, I received an instant approval of $1300. Denied an increase on recon due to most of my credit still being new, but thinking about calling again to try one more time.

I could have held out but I may take a score hit this month since 2 of my cards will report either a balance or a higher balance (due to winter-readiness shopping and license renewals), plus my reasoning was

1) I was thinking it would be nice to have another 0% card for 12 months (Quicksilver being my current one ending Aug '14)

2) I like the rewards offered on this card

3) I don't have the scores to get the Arrival WMC and I don't want the no AF version, plus my NFCU Flagship acts as an Arrival for airline redemption

4) It's a card that will get regular use with the cell phone, cable, and gas/groceries going through it

5) It compliments my CapOne 2% travel card with no AF

6) Barclays does give good limit increases and implicitly stated on the offer that they would evaluate me for a higher limit after 5 ontime payments

7) Since it's a "one last app", it makes sense for it to be Barclays

8) Oh, yeah, FREE TU FICO!

I'll see how this relationship goes.

Yep, they'll force you to stay in the garden like no one else will! Smiley LOL

Congrats on the approval, and welcome back. Smiley Happy

@sweettea

Welcome back. Yes,you could have held out but if it makes financial sense, then you have to do what's best.

Re: Garden Club Meeting - November 2013

Stopping by for a little while.  I'm completely exhausted. Last night was a constant whirlwind of activity, and I'm starting to feel the effects.

I see it has been another pretty active day here in the garden.  I'm trusting that I won't come across any alerts when I quick view all the posts.
