Re: Garden Club Meeting - September 2012

Hi all,

Just joined as a member to the forum, but I have been lurking for a few days and have found excellent information.  I made the decision that I want to garden to let my credit cards age (my revolving history is short) and my student loan balances shrink.  The goal is to apply in January or February for another rewards card (Discover? Chase?) and in the meantime gain some knowledge about my chances for whatever card I choose.  I may have to leave the garden early for apartment shopping if I am successful in transferring offices at work.  But so far, I have a silver spade, and I hope to get to a gold spade.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences!

In My Wallet: Amex BCP (12/12) $13,500, Cap1 Cash Rewards (6/12) $9,000, Barclaycard Arrival (5/13) $7,500, Citi Forward (12/12) $6,500, Chase Freedom (12/12) $5,000

In The Garden!

Re: Garden Club Meeting - September 2012

I started to get declined and then I waited 3 or 4 months and got some more.... I'm to the point where I'm just getting declined so I new I had to stop, It's said to say that on my Transunion report alone I have 45 inq.... I know some will drop off all next year, I've heard that inq don't mean as much after a year is this true.... The only other card I want is a Discover Card but I will have to wait till the whole house thing is taken care of and then maybe I will try, this will also give these open account time to age that's what I need them to do now. It was so nice to see Congratulation You've Been Approved. I can tell you this that GE Capital is a BK friendly bank if you've been out for at least 2.5 years..... WFNB is only good if you have been pre-approved offer at check out, don't apply if you don't have a pre-approval.

Re: Garden Club Meeting - September 2012

@abercrombie: Personally, I think you have WAY too many store cards, but it seems as though you are somehow able to manage all of those and frequently buy new clothes.  I would never be able to keep track of all those cards though.  I have a fancy spreadsheet to manage 11 revolving accounts, only 4 of which I frequently use.  So I effectively have a fancy spreadsheet for the purpose of managing 4 cards.

2. Amex delta - 2k CL
3. Walmart discover - 1.8k CL

It's been 3.5 months and I'm still in the garden.  Tried adding my silver spade but it didn't work out. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks to all.
