I have spent the last year away from home so I have not seen her that much. However, it sets us up in the long run. She wont know until she is 18, but her college is already paid for

No, that's not what it means at all. I just turned 29 yesterday even though i have a son turning 18 in November. In a decade he will be older than me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
