I read your thread,  haven't researched the card, but sounds nice.  You did a lot of soul searching, while others wondered why (methinks they need a little gardening).

Not everyone handles their credit the same way.

There are those that don't believe in gardening and apply for evey card that they think they can get. There are others that get three cards and then don't look at cards ever again regardless of benefit.

I say "Whatever works for you." 

For me (at this point) the only new card that would be useful would be another AMEX for the backdating. Anything else is going to have to offer a compelling reason to take the place of another card.
