This is my birthday month so its extra awesome. No temptation to app, waiting to see what effect bringing my util down has on my scores within the next couple days. Closing my Cap 1 card on the 8th, yes I could SD it but I don't want to and Im more than comfortable closing it entirely. Thats it for my October gardening plan. Hey Gardeners! I am an infrequent garden thread poster, just because it gets to be overwhelmingly long.
I had a very busy 2013 as far as apps go (15 cards acquired). 2014 has been much slower (only 4 new cards). I must admit, I got caught up in the excitement of new credit and applying what I learned from others here when I first discovered the myfico forums. I wasn’t very selective in many of my beginning applications. I have some cards in my wallet that I’m lukewarm on, some I outright regret and a nice handful I absolutely love, love, love.
My plan going forward is to figure out which cards in my portfolio truly fit my life and maximize their benefits. I will look to pare down my line up in the next couple of years to purge cards that don’t deliver benefits I find useful.
In the immediate future, I hope to get some nice SP CLIs – specifically looking to up my Lowes this month and go for a 3xCLI on my Amex Hilton card at the end of Nov. Beyond that, I’d love to work on some APR reductions. I may have more success on that front once my 2013 inquiries start falling off next year. Although I pay in full (except when taking advantage of 0% special promo), life happens. I’d like to have the lowest APRs possible in case I ever need to briefly carry a balance.

Checking in for October, where does the time go? Last App was in July but started to mark my calendar for hitting the "love" button on some of the new cards. Brought down my Credit Utilization significantly but waiting to see the effect on my scores. Still have a nasty amount of INQs on my report but majority of those won't fall off for 20 months. Any idea as to the amount of score increase for going from 70% utilization to <10%?

Starting Score: All Under 590 (8/2011)Quick question regaridng the spades in our siggy. Do we change them accordng to month of our last app or do we wait until the actual day in the month that conicides with our last app. Example my last app was 7/28/14 so do I change to silver now or wait til 10/28/14?

So glad it's October, my birthday month, My goals remain the same; debt eliminaton and planting myself in the garden for 2 years, I might weed out a few low limit cards that wont grow in the new year. In the new year all of my lates from 2008 wlll fall off from my paid off truck. It's only on EX and EQ so finally my scores will be similar. Happy gardening everyone, and welcome to all of our new and returning gardners!

I too need to get my utulization under control my freedom is nearing 60% maybe will try and cut it down to 20% or so. Have zero % interest on it still so guess should take advantage of that.
