Gas Cards

To all the gas card holders out there, I have a ocuple questions for you.

How did you decide which gas card to get? Is there a card that can be used at multiple gas stations and still earn rewards that make it worth it? For example, can I use one of the cards at a Shell, BP, and Sunoco?

If there are not cards that can be used multiple places, it almost seems more worth it to use a Prime card with a good rewards structure like Amex BCE or similar.

Just to clarify for MyJourney, I am not looking to app for one right now Smiley Very Happy

Re: Gas Cards

Discover IT or Freedom during their 5% quarters and the BCP at 3% for the other months.

Re: Gas Cards

I may just consider using Bofa more because of the extra 10% for depositing into checking or savings acct which will equal more then the 5% from IT or freedom

I think your math might be a little off there.

$100 spent on IT or Freedom at 5% = $5 in cash back

$100 spent on BoA at 3% = $3 x 10% = $0.30 for a total of $3.10 in cash back.

Re: Gas Cards

I have Chevron but haven't used it in months. I recall it was accepted at my GMC dealership for repairs but I've never used it there.

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Gas Cards

There are a lot of Gas cards available. See this list:

If you spend less than $250 a month on Gas, I would suggest the Sallie Mae World Mastercard. It has 5% Gas, 5% Grocery, 5% Bookstores.

Re: Gas Cards

I have wanted to add Discover to my lineup for awhile but it will still need to wait so I can age my accounts and get far enough away from MJ as possible.

It looks to me like it would be best to just use the cards I have right now rather than app for new ones. I am getting really excited to app for a new car loan in dec/jan and dont want any inq's between now and then.
