Re: Goal cards for 2013??

[ Edited ]

Unless a new card comes out, likely nothing. Happy w/ what I have now. Only hole in my rewards game is utilities, but my opportunity cost is pretty low in that regard because I'm only losing out on about $3/mo by not having 5% cashback on that. (Otherwise, would jump on the US Bank Cash+. Maybe still will in 2013 if a signup bonus of over $100 is presented.)

I would like to get the B.C.E. in January for maximum backdating.

I would also like to try for the U.S. Bank Cash + and the Penfed platinum rewards.

Re: Goal cards for 2013??

I think I took care of my two cards toward the end of this year in The BMW Card Visa and Chase MileagePlus Club Visa.  Maybe see if I can get the BMW Card upgraded and a CLI on the Chase MP Club Visa, but that's all.  I'll be in Gardening Mode hoping to go crazy saving for a new home.

Re: Goal cards for 2013??

I kinda want the United Explorer for the bonus miles then convert it to Mileage Club however not sure I want another card. I don't like having so many, I'm happy with my existing roster but might apply right before a trip next year.

Re: Goal cards for 2013??

I don't really need another cc. I got a good selection of prime cards over the last year, incl chase, citi, Amex and Barclays. I would really like a BCE for the backdating in January and grocery rewards, but not sure if I should with 20% overall util. So, I may just sit tight. As tempting as new CCs are, I'm finding the managing all of them to be a bit nerve racking! :smileysurprised:

Re: Goal cards for 2013??

I'm kind of limited in which institutions I can work with due to problems over a decade old now.  If I get the mortgage I want, I might be interested in getting a card with my CU because they have low rates and I like supporting local financial institutions over big banks whenever possible.  I've gotten to the point, however, where I don't really need any new cards.  I have a pretty decent portfolio at this point.

I'm in the same situation. I got all of the cards on my wish list this fall, and I'm currently very happy with what I have. I considered trying to get a BCE in January for backdating purposes, but I really don't need the card and it would just be one more to have to manage. I think that I'll be sitting tight for now.
