Going Above the credit limit

I just found out that I went over the credit limit by 75 dollars back in 2010. Does that hurt my score? and If so when will it go away on my credit report?

Anyone with clues please share it with me. Thank you Smiley Very Happy

Nope, won't hurt your score but it may damage your relationship with the creditor.

+1.  I wouldn't worry about it ~ there is no lasting FICO impact.   Assuming that the balance reported for that statement was higher than the CL then you might have been dinged during that month, but when you paid it down next month the scoring hit would have gone away.

Re: Going Above the credit limit

I don't think it hurts too bad...  My limit was 3600 last year on Discover More... and I went over up to 4126 in August 2011...

In December 2011 They gave me a CLI up to 4200....  So I really believe that going over the limit just told them I needed a bigger limit LOL...

Time will repair that, eventually.

I went over my $500 limit once and only once back in 2004. It's now my card with a 15.9K+ CL.

The OP just needs to make sure this doesn't happen again.
