Any good credit union that lets anyone join?
Depends on what you are looking for.
Good loan products/good credit card products (good how)/high savings rate. Convience, credit rebuilding friendly, etc.
Lots of decent credit unions, but I find they dump their "profits" into different tihngs such as high savings rates or low loan rates or no fees. So different credit unions will be better than others for certain things. Otherwise, a "vanilla" credit union can be okay at all things.
For example, my local one is basically no fee kind of credit union. No fees around checking and savings (they even have unlimited refunds for other people's ATM fees) and a okay rewards no fee VISA at 7ish% for pretty good credit. But their loan products are a bit less competitive.
PenFed seem extremely competitive with loan rates but less convienent than a lot of credit unions as they don't participate with coop credit union banking.
so on and so on. So if you give us an idea what you are looking for and going to use it at. I can definitely direct you better.

I have two credit unions. One is PenFed and they are very strict over loans and I had ID theft and my score are FICO 690 range and they said they like to see over 740 and they are not very convenient for me by location and have a 9 day hold on all cheques that I send them. My other credit union is Martin FCU and if you don't have direct deposit you have to pay a fee to have it and I will be closing that one out soon because of the fees. I'm looking for a all around credit union that I can call my own and be with for a long time for loans to credit cards.
I hear Alliant is good.
Anyone can join the Foster Care association to qualify.

I do not like that they pull credit to open an account for you. I am not really concerned about inquiries but it is unneccesary.
Consumers Credit Union(IL) (https://www.myconsumers.org) is a good one I think. They have a rewards account that is easy to qualify for. Their rewards on the credit card are trash but most credit union credit card rewards are.

If i were you i would consider USAA. There is no pull to join and you don't have to be active or former military.

Where you located btw
Central Florida.
Check these two out:
Both around you:
GTE CU: https://www.gtefcu.org/Home/HomePage.aspx
Good loan rates/checking with rewards/coop cu (lots of free atms)/I hear generous with credit cards, but strangely no rewards on visa that I can see but low APR.
Tampa CU: http://www.tampabayfcu.org/
a lot smaller than GTE, checking gives atm rebates, looks like anyone can join
I do most of my banking with alliant for a little over 6 months now. So far so good, been happy with the banking and customer service, not to mention the high rates on the checking/savings.
