Got a Chase CLI - RECON WORKS

So I went ahead and requested a CLI from 4K to 10K on my Chase Freedom...considering all my other cards are 11K+. They only approved me for 5.8K. Should I take it and run? Or call and try to get more? Is their a "preferred back door number to try"? I know we are under a "credit crunch," but considering my other cards, strong FICO score, solid payment history over the past 4 yrs with CHASE, and never getting a CLI, I'm disappointed...especially since it cost me a hard inq...

I'd call--you've already taken the hard inq hit.

FWIW, when I asked for a CLI on my BofA the other day, the first guy couldn't do it and passed me on to a credit specialist who approved it ($10K --> $15K). Maybe the online request is the equivalent of the frontline people, and you need to get to someone with some more decision-making ability. Good luck--I think it's worth a try.

(Did you stay up until 2:30 this morning to check? wow! Smiley Very Happy )

Re: Got a Chase CLI - RECON WORKS

When the credit department called me to verify my info they offered 7k and I was able to talk them into 10k. However, if this was an instant online approval I'm pretty sure I would have been stuck at 7k. So, YMMV I guess is the appropriate answer.
