Got this email today.
This October, your PayPal™ Plus MasterCard® will have a new name and a new rewards program.
Introducing the PayPal™ Extras MasterCard® where you get rewarded everywhere you shop, online and off. You’ll be amazed how fast the rewards add up:
• 3x reward points on all gas and restaurant purchases
• 2x reward points on all eBay and PayPal purchases
• 1x reward points everywhere MasterCard is accepted
Pretty excited about this. This card is my highest limit with 3k and gets a ton of usage and I actually use it for all gas and dining out. So it actually has a good rewards program now!

It is a well crafted phishing scam.
I shut down my 3k card a couple of years ago so not sure why all of sudden I'd receive this promo I haven't been receiving other promos on this acct since I closed it
I hope they fix the online card-access this time. They've been acting like 5yr olds lately..

It is a phishing scam...did sound too good to be true from a lackluster issuer/ cc product:
"Dear SB,
Thank you for contacting PayPal.
The email you forwarded to us is a spoof, also known as a phishing
email.
Our Trust & Safety team is working to disable any Web sites it links to.
Thanks for reporting the suspicious message you received.
You can help verify that a message was sent through our member-to-member
system by checking My eBay. Any message sent to you through this system
will appear there. However, keep in mind that it is possible for other
members to send spoofs and spam through this system. We will take action
against members who do this. That's why it's so important for you to
forward suspicious messages to us, and to never share your password or
private financial information over email.
In My Messages, you'll also find copies of emails we send you about the
status of your account or changes to your account information. This is
especially helpful since many spoof emails try to convince you that your
account is in jeopardy.
For more information on how to protect your account, go to the Security
Center."
what? this was fake? I got it on my ebay credit card too but they slashed my CL a couple years ago and now will not budge. Have been getting a lot of pre-approvals for the other financing now offered on ebay, so next time I buy something just going to get that and then GE can just sit until they stop being stupid
It's not a phishing scam, that reply you got back from their "Trust and Safety" department is a bunch of bullcrap. The longer you deal with eBay/PayPal the more you'll realize how much they have no idea what's going on.
The email you got was real if it didn't ask for any personal information.

I have no doubt that they can be cluesless, not sure what would be worse: 1. If it is, in fact, a scam or 2. if it is not but they are informing card holders who take the time to inquire that it is a scam --now that would be rather over the top IMO.
Don't respond to this or any future emails you get from them, and don't click any of the links.
They're sending this out to people who don't even have PP cards anymore, and PP itself says it's a fake.
I know I'm reviving an old thread, but guess what?...Paypal is now reporting my card as "PaypalExtrasMC" on my Equifax file...
EDIT: There seems to be a reference to the Extras MC here too: https://www.paypal-xinnovate.com/sponsors.html
Im going to be excited if this actually happens. Its my favorite and highest limit card.
