Got approved for Barclay's Arrival, but questions...

So, I've come a long way with a lot of help from this forum (scores in the 560's) and am now around 700.

I was browsing CK and noticed one of the cards it recommended for me was the Barclay's Arrival card, which is nice as I do travel out of the country from time to time.  I looked at reviews for the card and all are great.  

After I app'd and was approved for 5k, I found something about their Arrival Plus card and was wondering if anyone had any experience with upgrading the card right out of the gate.  I didn't apply for that card as it wasn't the one CK sent me to through their portal, but the Plus card offers the introductory mileage.

When were you approved for the card?  If anything, give them a call and ask.

Sure!  I'll see what they say.  It seems on the forums that some people are getting moved from the Arrival to the Arrival + automatically, so hopefully they'll work with me.

I really love the card, received my 40k points right away after the min. spending.  CS is very good as well, we're pulling for ya on the upgrade to Arrival+, keep us updated!!

Hey Gotons!  Congrats on your approval!

Barclays is a weird bird.  Unfortunately, I'm speaking from mostly what I've read and not personal experience with this particular concern, they do not do PCs without another app for the card you want.  If you app again and are approved for the Plus, they will move all or part of your current CL to the new card if you do not want both cards.  If you are denied the new app, they will open the new card and close the old card by moving the CL to the new card.  I hope I'm wrong on this but that seems to be the procedure for getting the card you actually now want.  Good Luck!!

Congrats on the approval and hope you can convert, but again an important lesson here.   Credit Karma ISN'T interesting in finding the best card for your needs, it is pushing cards that it is paid to push.  So I would never app from such a recommendation without doing a lot of searching on sites to see what is out there and what is the best fit.   Start looking at issuer sites to see ALL their cards and see if any are a better fit, then once you have narrowed that down, look for reviews.   But even with reviews,  the majority of people aren't aware of alternatives, and will say "I love the rewards on this card" even if the rewards turn out to be the worst among 10 similar cards!

Update!

Well, it's my fault.  I had heard of the Arrival +  and when I saw it pop up on CK, that's what I thought it was.  So it was an oversight on my part when I applied.  I didn't JUST take the offer because of CK, I had been looking at it already.

So, I called Barclays and spoke with their CR.  I was put on hold as the CR spoke with a Credit Specialist to see what they could do.  Unfortunately, I had to reapply, but was told to just call back immediately and they would get it sorted.  I called back, spoke with another CR and they added the Credit Specialist back on the line as well and went through my details and they just transfered my account over to the Arrival Plus.

While it wasn't something I could do automatically, I had to use another inquiry, but was able to get the card I want with the same limit.

Wow congrats - I tried to transfer from the Arrival to the Arrival + and they said they couldnt do it! bummed!!
