I've been busting my butt to pay off bad debt and try to get a little revolving credit under my belt because next year we want to buy a house. I got a secured USAA $500 CL card, and was added as an authorized user to my hubby's Capital One $300 CL card...UTI on all are 1-2% each month as we only use them for gas/groceries and pay them off each pay day. Well USAA gives you a free credit monitoring service and my scores over the past 5 mo have increased by 72pts so I decided to go ahead and apply for the Military Star card...they gave me a $3,150.00 CREIT LINE!!! I couldn't believe it! AND it's in my name only i am not co-signed or anything on it! I know hubby's military star card reports to all three CRA's so i'm REALLY excited because this will give ma a GREAT UTI and CL with three revolving lines of credit!!! =)
Thanks to all you MyFico peeps and your help I've really begun to rebuild my credit and truely understand the importance of good credit/payment history!!!! =)
I would wait for the Star card to report and then join Navy and apply for unsecured credit card with them.
You mean Navy Federal CU? I was going to get a secured card with them, but ended up having to settle out a debt with the money i had saved for that card...i'm still in SHOCK i got approved for a 3000 LIMIT...i mean my scores are still far from perfect and not even in the 600's yet! I had been an authorized user on my husbands Star card for the past 7 yrs though, so maybe that is what actually helped me the most...however, on all my CR's it doesn't report the my authorized usage of hubby's star card!
Yes I mean Navy Federal. I have a secured with them, to my surprise the rep the other day said you only have to have it 6 months and you can apply for unsecured if you would like, I'm waiting for my util to update on reports and then might give it a try.
Congrats, great card to have. I wonder what bureau they checked with.
I just looked at your scores in your signature, and all i can say is WOW! That's great news! I thought for sure you would have had to go for the secured card. Take care of your new card, USAA is a great company to work with, and if you treat them right, they will return the favor.
