Thank you very much for the clarification. I understand.  So do you by any chance know of anyone who is in a similar situation as me successfully getting their card backdated by calling them or chatting with AMEX multiple times hoping to get a helpful rep?  Or am I SOL and there's 0 chance to convince AMEX to backdate it to 2005?

AFAIK, what Lexie said is consistent with posts I've been lately.   They won't backdate the AU card on your CRs.

I was added as an AU on a relative's account back in 2007, but I no longer am. If I not apply for my first AMEX as a primary cardholder, will I be backdated to 2007?

FICOs: EX (per Amex, 1/20/18): 830 | TU (per Discover, 1/20/18): 817

Wallet: Discover It $35.5k | Amex EveryDay $25k | Chase Freedom Unlimited $19.5k | Chase Freedom $8.5k | Chase Sapphire Preferred $8.5k | Amex BCE $7.7k

Drawer: Hella More

Yes.  The MSD of 2007 should have been locked in for you.

You can try but they made a policy change a few years ago.  Only primary cardholders have their credit reports backdated.

Good luck if you try!
