Aren't EMV chips good only for out of USA and Walmarts?

They are becoming more and more common. A car wash and local supermarket has it here now where I live.

Yes But I just want it lol ... Few CVS's near me are popping up with EMV chip readers so it is only a matter of time. This way  the card would be ready when they roll it out nationally ( Merchants)

Re: Got my Freedom changed to EMV chip

I thought about doing this, but recently used my Arrival+ EMV at WalMart and twice it said "card closed by consumer".  When I called Barclay, they had no record of the transaction at all and of course nothing saying I closed the account.  It's always worked fine before, now I'm kinda scared to use it at WalMart again.

Re: Got my Freedom changed to EMV chip

Barnes and Noble cafe seemed to have a chip reader slot. I put my card in today but it didn't do anything. So, I just swiped.

Re: Got my Freedom changed to EMV chip

I personally don't like the EMV reading - very slow.  But I'm sure it will speed up down the road.

Hmm Ill take a Picture of the one near CVS if I have a chance... Also have to figure out how to add pictures in here ( would that be allowed?)

There is one in CVS and there is the screen and then the pin pad and on the bottom a Slot to add a card in like you would in those MTA vending machines for metrocards.
