Hey all!
I am new to the Capital One Venture card and I'm wondering how the travel purchase eraser works. I bought some plane tickets for a few hundred bucks and want to redeem my $400 sign up bonus towards it.
The only problem is, I paid the card off completely already ($0 balance is currently showing), but when I go to "redeem a purchase" it still shows up as a selectable option.
I'm wondering if I redeem this purchase ($350), will my card just be $350 above the credit limit? ($10,350 available, instead of $10,000 available). Or will it not even ACTUALLY redeem it (haven't done the last "confirmation" step yet).
Also, does anyone know how long you have to redeem a travel purchase before it disappears from the redeem page? 30 days, 60, 90 days?
Thanks in advanced for all the help!
Cheers!
If/when you redeem it, your credit limit will still show $10,000 available, with a -$350 current balance. Capital One doesn't count negative balances towards your available credit. It's just a statement credit, no matter how they dress it up as a "redemption"

OK, so what you are saying is, I can redeem this $350 purchase regardless if I've paid it off or not. The $350 will just be a negative balance, meaning I can spend $350 before actually having a balance on the card?
Do you know how long each travel purchase is available to be "redeemed"?
Cheers!

I don't have a Venture, so I don't know how long each purchase is available to redeem. On my Quicksilver, I can go back 90 days.
But again, it's not necessary to redeem a specific purchase. You can simply ask for a statement credit for $350.
You can redeme up to 90 days or 3 statements.
I do $100 at a time oldest first.
