The black card is actually much nicer.

I thought about it briefly, and figured if I ever get the Fidelity card, it will be the black one. I ended up not getting either, since I couldn't really justify the AF. For me personally, I would be better off with the Amex Plat, Citi Prestige, Chase Ritz / United Club instead, I think.

Maybe the Fidelity private client has some exceptional benefits that I don't know about. The website doesn't help much with explaining the full benefits in detail either.

The Merill+ is a good looking card though. https://www.rewards.ml.com/RWDapp/ml/merrillplus

However, it requires 50k in annual spending on that card just to qualify for the PLUS level tier.

Not too sure if I want to drop 50k on that card just for some additional perks. The website does a horrible job explaining the full benefits of Plus tier as well.

JPMorgan Palladium (100k), AmEx Platinum (NPSL), AmEx SPG (46k), AmEx BCP (42k), Chase Sapphire Preferred (47k), Citi Prestige (31k), Citi Thank You Preferred (27k), Citi Executive AAdvantage (25k), JPMorgan Ritz-Carlton (21k), Merrill+ (15k), US Bank Cash+ (22.5k), Wells Fargo (12k), Bloomingdale’s (12.4k), Chase Freedom (5k), Discover IT (5k).

Re: Have you decided not to apply because of an ugly card???

Amex BCE is a pretty card, but it feels very flimsy/cheaply made. Is the Cap1 Quicksilver 1.5% cash back card just as bad?
As of 1/10/2014 EX FICO - 748. EQ FICO - 728. Trans FICO - 755

WellsFargo - $3,000 AMEX BCE - $18,000 Chase Freedom - $4,000

Re: Have you decided not to apply because of an ugly card???

I can't say this has ever happened to me, but then again I've never wanted a card (for benefits sake) that was really ugly anyways. If it did it would be a slight deterrant, but would be overcome if the benefits were significantly better than what I already have.

If a card is really ugly, you can still use it for "unseen transactions" such as online purchases, insurance payments, etc. You may not reap the full benefits of the card this way, but at least you can get part of it.

EX 798, EQ 789, TU 784
American Express Platinum (NPSL) || Bank of America Privileges with Travel Rewards Visa Signature - $23,200 CL
Barclays American Airlines Aviator Red World Elite Mastercard - $20,000 CL || Chase IHG Rewards World Mastercard - $25,000 CL
Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa Signature - $12,700 CL || Chase United MileagePlus Club World Elite MasterCard - $26,500 CL
Citibank Hilton Reserve Visa Signature - $20,000 CL || J.P. Morgan Ritz Carlton Visa Signature - $23,500 CL

The Fidelity PC card is essentially the same flat 2% cash back version plus Priority Pass Select. The AF is $200, so it's the cheapest card that offers PPS since the Ameriprise WEMC doesn't offer that benefit anymore to new applicants.

@GaTech Yes, the Cap One QS is flimsy, too. Not as flimsy as Amazon Store card, though. That's literally paper.

Re: Have you decided not to apply because of an ugly card???

in my (personal) opinion, chase freedom is very ugly -- although other chase cards look very good.

and this is precisely the reason i haven't applied for chase freedom -- i know it is irrational. but i just don't like the card Smiley Sad
