Re: Have you ever Noticed????

$1 on Chase for me  at any of the stations I have ever used it at. Never used the Amex for gas but when my 5% categories are over, it will go on Amex so we'll see.

Re: Have you ever Noticed????

It really depends on the gas station, generally they will only do $1 to make sure the card is valid, and if they're worried its a pre-paid card they use zip code verification. Even pre-paid cards that are registered to you won't be accepted regardless if its a visa. The gas station authorizes the dollar, and sometimes they can authorize the full amount right after or the hold amount. The reason it takes a few days to process is because the gas station has to batch their credit cards so that it sends to the credit card companies the amounts actually charged. It would be stupid to put a $75 hold, because credit card companies still pay them even if you go over your limit and even if you opted out of over the limit fee. I did this on my Chase card on accident ( low limit with 5% off gas makes it easy to charge up ) They put me over my limit, but without fee ( i opted out ) and said it will not have affect on me as a customer... they even update my balance that day with the CRA.

Re: Have you ever Noticed????

Freedom has a placeholder for a $1 for me usually...it seems like though there post faster than they used to and of course using freedom for the 5% cash back
