Cards backed by GECRB have a lot of potential to both grow with him and be upgraded to normal bank cards, i.e. Visa, MC, Amex, Discvr. Also GECRB cards are generally easy approval with a Fico of 600 or above. They usually have NO ANNUAL FEES either and credit lines will grow. I'd avoid most subprime bank card issuers except GECRB, and Capital One (unless there's an AF). It is possible to build your revolving credit history without paying ANY fees, you just have to be careful.
