I called the backdoor# to recon & the primary reason for being declined was too many new account opened in the past 6months. I explained to him that I'm applying for reward cards & planning to cancel my non reward cards, no go....not a good enough answer. Any suggestions on what to say, I want to call them back to recon again.
how many new accounts/inquiries are showing on your tu report?
Just my opinion but from what I have read here about how paranoid Barclay's is with new accounts, you may need to wait till those new accounts age. They apparently are notorious to softing you every month and closing accounts if new accounts are opened after they give you a card.
So you may be better off waiting. Like I said, just my opinion.

That's a big no go with Barclay's. Try again in a year.
Is this your first Barclay card? I found that with my first card they questioned my inqs and new cards quite a bit on the phone call. I just explained that I am a "collector" and eventually got them to say yes. The second card the inqs and new cards were mentioned but not even questioned and the third not even mentioned.
If you are going for the first, I think the recommendations of waiting to allow the apps/inqs to age is a very good one.
Call the recon number and advise the rep you are looking for a manual review for reconsideration for their product. Allow Barclay's to ask the questions. Be truthful and accept their decision.

I agree. That is too many new accounts/inq's for Barclays taste.
