Help with Secured

Hi there, I've been lurking here for a few weeks and have some questions.

I've recieved experian free report of 544 score.

In the last year I've been denied for Wal-Mart, Capital One Secured, and JCPenney

That leads me to believe that my scores are extremely bad.

I am interested in starting out with a secured card of $200 deposit when I get my tax refund in Feb. 2014.

The problem is that I am confused on which company to go with for secured card.

Is there anybody here that has been as low as me on the credit todem pole?

haha, I know I can re-build, just a matter of where to start!

Re: Help with Secured

A local CU would be a good place to start.

Welcome to the forum.  If you feel comfortable in sharing your credit profile, it would be helpful.

Baddies; current cc's or TLs; number of inq's?

No credit check, no income verification, no annual fee, low APR, no FETF, minimum $250, highly regarded:

Re: Help with Secured

Thanks for the responses!

I only got one report through freecreditreport. Credit Karma says there is a duplicate account, and I am unable to figure out how to log in so far.

FreeCreditReport:

In Collections:

Nov. 2013 Hospital $574

Nov. 2013 Hospital $631

Nov. 2013 Hospital $692

Sept. 2013 Hospital $423

June 2013 Apartment Fee $615

Feb. 2013 Radiology $688

Feb. 2013 Hospital $53

Feb. 2013 Hospital $50

Feb. 2013 Hospital $361

Dec. 2011 Capital One $953

Dec. 2011 Labs $119

Oct. 2011 Radiology $123

Oct. 2011 Hospital $521

Dec. 2010 Labs $36

Feb. 2010 Labs $54

March 2009 Labs $62

3 inquiries.

no public records.

Score 544 Ex. Very high risk

WHEW...

The only thing I have credit wise is a Fingerhut fresh start account. I owe $70 for a purchase in Dec. $14/month. Made my first payment this month.

Plan on keeping it paid on time, so that maybe I can get a revolving account.

No credit cards of any kind.

Re: Help with Secured

I'd agree with user5387 on SDFU, I would have gone with them had I known about them when I started.

I would also check out OpenSky (https://www.openskycc.com). They only do a soft pull for new accounts. They've been fine for me so far for rebuilding.

As suggested, SDFCU is a good start.  Please post in a Rebuilding for assistance with the CAs
