@Anonymous wrote:So now that we know Chase and Discover's 2015 categories, here's Citibank's opportunity to get me to rotate my Citi Dividend card into my wallet and actually give it some use:
Citi Dividend 2015 Categories (wishful thinking)
Q1: Restaurant and Pharmacy
Q2: Home Improvement and Furnishings
Q3: Car Rental and Hotel
Q4: Electronics Stores, Clothing
It could happen. But I bet we'll have to wait until December 15th to know.
Chris.
And what do you know, three weeks earlier than I expected, Citi just announced their categories. But they didn't make my wishes come true:
Citi Dividend
Q1: Home Furnishing Stores, Macy's
Q2: Home & Garden Stores
Q3: Airlines, Hilton Brands
Q4: Department Stores, Best Buy
What crappy categories. No gas? Not that I need it but still, it doesn't compare with Freedom or It, IMO.
Ugh, this is frustrating how the restaurant categories of Freedom and Discover overlap. I don't see any point in even using my Discover card now since UR points are better than straight up cash back. As for gas and groceries, I already have Sallie Mae...

Simply put, Godawful.
They've actually gotten worse. In the past they had pharmacies in Q1 at least.

I PCd my Thank You Premier to this (to get rid of AF) but it seems really worthless. I was expecting pharmacies Q1 to max out,
Freedom's 2015 calendar makes me realize what an outstanding card Sallie Mae is.
My Freedom will be down to a few gas charges in one quarter and restaurants in another,
total use for the year. Not much.

Yes, the combination of 5% on gas and groceries (even forgetting the very useful "books") makes it a card that is going to be useful for many people. If the cap is too small, get two! If it's still too small, get the Blue Cash.
Hmmm, I will pull it out of the SD for the 1st Q next year and let my SMs cool down a little (except for gas).
