having just apped for a cc to Nordstrom...i know what the holding time can be like. First time around it was 57 minutes...
second time was to confirm my id for my app - and it was about one hour total....

I understand they recently "changed systems" - dont' know which systems, so i was told by three different people that was the reason.
I would suggest going directly to the store with proof of identity. Go to Customer Service and they will contact underwriting for you and you can get an answer right then. I had to do that in May. It cost me another INQ on EX after the initial EQ INQ, but I got the Signature with 3K CL before I left.
The Customer Service # on my card is 866-445-0433. Maybe they can transfer you if you don't want to go to the store.
