I applied online for the Home Depot Store Card last week so that next year or so when I begin aggressively looking into a home purchase it has a decent credit line for the inevitable purchases that go hand in hand with the purchase. I got the 7-10 day message. Anybody have any positive experiences after getting that dreaded line ?? I searched the boards but most everything is outdated. I did call the automated line which said that there was no record of application ? I took it a step further and talked to a CSR and they confirmed the reception of application but would not say yes or no as to whether it was declined. I did recently open a sears card that was instantly approved at the checkstand for 1600. i think I saw somewhere that you have to have 60 days between Citi accounts ? Anybody know ?
Was this CSR you talked to a person from the backdoor number to Home Depot? If you applied last week I would think that one of them could have given you an answer to your application by now. Give them a call back and see what they say again.
Yes, the CSR was reached using the "backddoor " number .... I don not have ANY neg items on any bureau. My biggest thought is that it may have something to do with some kind of Citi policy for limiting accounts to 60 days between apllications for their products ??

Try calling them back and speak to underwriting.
Just talked to them ... Denied The guy was actually totally rude. He kept asking for my reference number ( which they did not give me when I applied online) . I had been talking to an older lady that was very pleasant and unfortunately we got disconnected right after she asked politely if she could put me on hold while she checked status. Oh well, i kinda felt like I was pushing it anyway with just having opened up a Sears account about two weeks ago....... no problem, i will take it on the chin and head for the garden.....(which is what I should have done in the first place) Just noticed my score took a nosedive with new accts reporting....
