Re: Home Depot cut my credit limit by $9999

Congrats on 15k BACK!. HD was one of my first approvals and they gave me $1000.00 with a 622 EX score I was so happy. Tried for an increase right away and got declined and was told to keep a balance for 6 months and make payments on time etc I could try again for an increase. I have since charged up my small cards and am looking forward to paying them off etc so I can quickly boost my score and IF I could get HD to up to 15K I would do wonders for my CR. May I ask what your current score is with EX and your UTL% on your report?

Thanks, everyone!

I haven't pulled my EX score since last spring.  My SW (EQ) is 800.  Hasn't budged in over 2 months.

My utilization has always been comfortably <9%, even without the higher HD CL.  But every once in a while - usually a big vacation - it pushes up towards 10%, so having that extra cushion is nice.

Adding my congrats!

To the poster who wondered about CL's ending in $1, I wonder if they've got tiers or whatever of CL ranges, something like up to $1000, $1001 - $5000, $5001 - whatever, and so forth.

Pure speculation on my part, though.

Many organizations are trying to reduce their exposure. It's because our country is failing. Our country depends on people spending more than they make, which cannot go on forever.

Just got back from Home Depot buying my paper towels to make sure they see usage on my HD credit card!

Like I mentioned in a separate thread, the CLI came with a "cost": they pulled my credit and an inquiry hit my report.  No damage from the inquiry though; it was probably offset by the fact that a new card that I opened in December 2007 is now a little over a year old, as is the inquiry that went with that card.

Still feels good to have the CL up again.  It will help keep my utilization comfortably below 9%.
