I am getting ready to move, so this card could be moderately useful for me. But I'm leaning towards throwing out the pre-selection offer. Before I do that, anyone have thoughts? Is this an exceptionally good card to have for anything? It's just a store card.

Nope....not really. You can usually find a home improvement 5% category on the freedom, it, or another rewards card.

Depends if you can pay for your purchases in full within a month or two, if so then like other poster stated you could do a chase freedom, discover rotating 5% or a good 2% Fidelity card which would beat out purchases on the store... however if you want more than a couple months to pay off then this card is great for the continued 0% offers for 6,12,18, and even 24 months.
The HUGE Credit Lines can be a bonus too.
If you apply and get instant approval I suggest you set up your online account and click the "request credit line increase" button and request $25k or more... you will have a counter or full amount in probably under an hour.
Its a good card, just don't carry a balance on it or pay it off before your promo ends. The APR on the card isn't a low one. Average APR is about 24.99, it says from 17.99, but I've only know a couple of people to get that APR.
