Hooter's Denial

I applied for a Hooter's Credit Card and was denied.

The reason for denial was "Recent Mortgage" - this was the only reason listed on the denial letter so I guess this is what did me in.

Does anyone know how long you have to wait before a mortgage is no longer new?  Six months, a year?

Here are the specifics for my TU credit report when I applied for the Hooter's card:

My TU score was about 608

Collections - only one - Portfolio (i hate these people) which will fall of in 12/08 (eight months!!!)

Inquiries - ten - 8 mortgage, 1 NCO, & 1 cap one

Credit Cards - Target since 07/07 - good standing, JCP since 05/04 - good standing, HSBC since 04/07 - good standing

Hope this helps someone either get the card or save an inquiry if you have a recent mortgage.

Cathleen

Re: Hooter's Denial

With the sub-prime mortgage mess going on, I think they are displaying a measure of caution when it comes to extending credit to people with new mortgages.  I guess we should be glad this trend isn't being adopted by other lenders as well.  But in your case, I would recon them.  But truthfully, Hooters isn't that great of a card, don't get me wrong, it's not "bad" but you can get a Capital One card with better rates and AF's than Hooters.  I wouldn't worry about losing any hide over a Hooters denial.  You've been denied by better....(we all have)  lol.

Re: Hooter's Denial

For the reconsideration - would you recommend calling them or writing them a letter?

Thanks-

Re: Hooter's Denial

Are they charging you for 8 inquiries for mtg. shopping?  I thought that should only count as 1.  Anyone??????  What time frame did you shop?

Re: Hooter's Denial

I tried for a Hooters CC the other Day. Got 30 Day Msg, who knows if i got it... Any ways My Util is hurting me. How do they think you get Util up? Buy getting more cards with higher limts. The one CC that is reporting for me is one with $300 limit. I see alot of the, owed amount to high for credit limit reasons. I have a house payment and a car payment, what do they think everyone has a house paid for? Anyways, im going to keep on keeping on. 700 or Bust!
