Background on report:

in 2006/2007, 2 charge-offs (paid in full), numerous lates. We had a business that we decided to close. All credit cards were closed. Hunkered down, paid everyone off.

Since then, acquired NFCU Rewards (now at 9k), USAA MC (2k), Pottery Barn (8800) and Kohls (700). Zync in Dec 2010.

Applied for the AMEX Blue Preferred - had NO expectations of getting it BUT......

Approved!  Recd yesterday - 4k limit

FICO 681, high income. No blemishes since April 2007.

So it can be done!

It is the blue cash

Utlization - that was the other shocker. We have high utilization on the NFCU card (getting our decks restained, etc) - so we were carrying a 7k balance. $50 on Kohls (missed the statement cut), no balance on the others
