Household Bank Gets An A+

I received a new mastercard from Household with an annual fee. I called and asked to close it and they waived the fee for the year. I''m happy with them - for now at least.

Re: Household Bank Gets An A+

The dogs try to charge me $25 for a $200 CLI. Needless to say I told them to F Off and close the account

What number did you call to have them take off the annual fee? I just got a card with them and they are charging me an annual fee also.

Thanks

I called 800-477-1024. Tell them you're calling to cancel the card. If they ask what you're planning to use the card for (shopping, backup), say it's primarily a backup card. They will transfer you to a retention specialist. Tell them the fee is too high for you to pay on a backup credit card. They will offer to waive the fee. This is the scenario that worked for me yesterday. Keep in mind that I had just received the card in the mail and had NOT activated it yet. If you haven't activated it yet, do not call the activation number on the front of the card. Call the number on the back of the card.

Good luck!
