Household Bank Update: Goodwill Letter #2

In short, I was 30 days past due on my Household bank account in March of this year. It was reported to all three bureaus and I took a hit on my scores for that. I mailed two goodwill letters and still a no go. Here's how they responded:

"As we report information that relates to the actual credit experiences that we have had with you, it is not possible for us to delete this information."

I had this account since January 2005 with an otherwise perfect payment history. Should I mail goodwill letter #3 or am I simply wasting my time? Advice is requested fellow FICOers!!!

Thanks,

Uncle Money

I don't think it hurts to try again. Have you searched out addresses for people higher up in the food chain? You may want to change people if you try again.

Re: Household Bank Update: Goodwill Letter #2

Hi Lynette,

I haven't but that sounds like a good idea. I've been writing to the address on my credit report and used the reference number.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

UM

Re: Household Bank Update: Goodwill Letter #2

I have heard of no instances in which Household will GW.  I tried getting GWs before I bought a house last year, and repeatedly was told no.  \

That said, keep trying if this is something that is really holding your FICOs back.

Hi Uncle Money,

Have you posted about this on the Rebuilding Your Credit forum? If not, do that and ask if anyone has had luck with Household. If they have, they may be able to give you a name. Also, I think they have a list of addresses stickied at the top of the forum.

I remember reading with other banks that sometimes people had luck when they got their letter to the CEO. Also, post the letter you have written and ask for advice on your wording, etc. There are some mighty knowledgeable people who have been through this. Maybe there is no chance, but I'd ask them over there. Good luck!

Re: Household Bank Update: Goodwill Letter #2

UPDATE: Hey Guys, well I just overnighted goodwill letter #3 to Household bank via FedEx. I'm not giving up and I refuse to have this on my report's for 7 years! I have all the time in the world so I will mail them every week if I have to until I become a thorn in their side. I will keep everyone posted. I'm determined to come back with a post on my success with getting this late pay removed.
