Interesting question. When I started getting cards a little over two years ago, I only had one bank debit card. I was very much against getting cards because I felt it would be a temptation to overspend. My spouse kept commenting about all the points and miles opportunities out there and kept pushing.
Now I have:
Credit Card - 15:
Delta American Express
HHonors American Express
AirTran Visa
Best Buy Mastercard
Chase United Visa
Citi Mastercard
Citi Visa
Citi American Express
Discover More
HSBC Mastercard
Nationwide Visa
PSECU Visa
Revolution
Walmart Discover
Xceed FCU Visa
Corporate Card - 1:
American Express Corporate (Green)
Store Cards - 13:
Amazon
Bloomingdales
TJX
Jared
JCPenney
Kay
Kohl's
Lord & Taylor
Macy's
Nautilus
Newegg
Sunoco
Target
Bank Debit Cards - 4
Xceed FCU
PenFed
PSECU
Chase
Honestly, I think I am addicted to credit cards. I keep essentially no balance on any of them but rotate through using them to keep them "fresh".

I'm in good shape then. I only have 7 but I still consider that too many.
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 9/09 pulled by lender 802
EQ - 7/06-663, 3/10-800
TU - 8/10-772
You can do the same thing with hard work
I have 3 bank cards with way more credit than I will ever need. So, no more for me.

Fortunately I don't have high usage except for the new CareCredit that has me in a bit of a panic but that will be gone in a year (with no interest)

Is your spouse still pushing? I think you qualify as a collector.

Nope, no more pushing now. If "collector" = "addict" then I think you are right.
