How do you get a BOA amex?

I'm planning to get a BOA secured card soon. I believe all secured are Visa. Once my card graduates, how do I go about to getting a product change from Visa to Amex?

First of all, would this be a good idea? Is there anything needed to qualify for the Amex version? What range of score would I need for the Amex version?

I was looking to PC my old Platinum Plus, I spoke to one rep who insisted I app for a new card, so I hung up and spoke to another one. The second rep said I could PC to any card as long as my scores warranted it. Mind you I did not have them pull my score or go through with the PC, YMMV depending on reps apparently. Best of luck
