How many CC's should one have....

So far I have 6 cards 3 of my own (personal card, business card and store card), and 3 as AU on my wife's. With a mortgage and student loan, I have 8 TL's opened on my CR.

How many cards do you guys suggest one should have for max FICO game?

You need 2.5*(Age-18) + 5

As long as you can manage and handle them, I don't think there is a set number. Smiley Happy

CK Says 21+ is the ideal way to go, LOL but that includes closed accounts too...

Not sure how true that is, But I'm at 20 with 2 closed accounts (I never closed any, Probably TJ Max which I never used, Not sure what other one).

Re: How many CC's should one have....

I have 10 open, 1 closed cards.

I went from 4 to 10 in a couple week time span though so it's a new challenge to make sure I manage them well (and get their reward bonuses).

I think it all depends on how many you want to manage, how responsible you are with them in general and whether you're someone who will be tempted to spend a lot on the cards, or whether you will behave. (I used to be a spender before I learned more about credit and scoring, but now I'm improving greatly). For some people, 1 is too many, and for others, 20 isn't enough. Most of us will be somewhere in the middle.

Scoring Wise - 3 is the number and depending what business card you have that does not count and I wouldn't count your AU so in your case I would add 2 more credit cards and let the store card be an added bonus.

if you have a car loan or personal loan, you could probably just add 1 more credit card and be good but I realy prefer a number around 5 so most likely if you are using 1 or 2 the most your util will never hopefully be a big deal.
