It seems that $100K in total CLs with GE is their internal limit (and individual cards no higher than $25K).  However, some people have had AA to limit them to around $25K overall.  YMMV.

Re: How many GE cards is too many?

That's kind of subjective since each individual could have any possible number of GECRB cards.  The bottom line is exposure and capacity, which as mentioned above, is ~$100K accross all GECBR TLs.  You can have 6 or 8 or 3 or 4... is that too many?  Some folks have 12 or more...is that too many?  How about 5, can that be too many?

I personally have 11 GECRB CCs (a mix of Visa, MC, AMEX and Discover - none store versions) and I don't consider that too many.

This could also apply for Comenity as well, what is too many?

Good way to put it, I guess I was just hoping for input from those that have more than 2.  The reason why is because I have Walmart and Sams but I want to apply for Paypal, and 2 more but I don't want to get AA by GE for applying for three more of their cards.

What are you CLs on Walmart and Sams?

I think you'll likely be fine to pick up a few more GE cards.  If you had CLs around $300 or lower, I wouldn't apply for any more GE CCs.  In fact, if you do a GE spree and get low CLs, then it might be time to stop, IMHO.

I would say you are as good to do so.  I believe on average most folks could easily be carrying 4 of their cards at any given point.  The AA scenario really becomes trivial if (a) you start requesting too many CLIs on your GECRB cards in a short period of time, (b) your credit profile deteriorates/scores tank, (c) you open an excessive number of new tradelines which may include opening a great number of GECRB accounts in such a short period (<30 days), (d) questionable activities, income disprorportionate to exposure or spending patterns out of the norm on GECRB or cards, or (e) fraud/default.
