Re: How many INQ is too many for Amex BCE?

Generally, after a year, your inquiries don't carry as much consideration when you're under review for new credit.

All of my FICOs were in the very high 700s when I was approved for the BCE, despite four inquiries in the last year.  (I graduated from university in May 2012 and have been aggressively developing my credit portfolio for long-term aging/"gardening" purposes.)  Prudent credit card utilization, an average age of accounts longer than two years (or thereabouts; the more accounts you have with serious age, the better), and some reasonable prior limits should get your foot in the door.

If it helps, here is what I had prior to my application.

All three FICO scores north of 770.
AAoA: 3 years, 3 months
Length of history: 5 years flat
Utilization: 2%
Cards: Chase Freedom ($3.5k), Discover It ($2k at the time), Belk GECRB ($1k at the time), Walmart GECRB ($2.3k), JCP GECRB ($1.5k)

Chase Sapphire Preferred VS ($13k), Amex BCE ($12k), Amex Hilton Surpass ($10k), Chase Hyatt VS ($9k), Upromise WMC ($5k), Discover It ($4k)
