How much did AU help your credit history

[ Edited ]

Okay so this a backround on my brothers  Credit report.

Cap 1 secured  -   6mo 500cl

Us Bnk Securd -    6 mo 300 cl

Open Sky Sec -     5 mo  200cl

Boa Secured -      5mo  1000cl

Discover AU -     8mo     5500cl

Chase    AU -     6mo     3000cl

Home Dept AU- 5yrs      3800cl

negative accounts:

cap1-900bal charged off -2009 - unpaid

1stP- 500bal charged off- 2009 - unpaid

Scores: 6months ago 530 EQ  Today 656 EQ

3 INQ

Will those AU with Higher CL and more history in them,

Will it count towards his AOA. also will he be able to get his own discover, chase  and prime cards

with CL in 4 figure limits, when applying next month.

will it help getting approved with alot of satisfacotry accounts or does it hurt the situation. 4 of my accounts and 3 AU accounts with High CL.

Or are AU worthless and have the CC companies caught on to this trick.?

I heard people with just 8 months of new history with no AU gettings into prime cards with decent limits

Thanks alot. I'm really greatful for the usefull info here. So i try my best to help others without the info we posses.

why would removing a AU thats has 4 more months of history then his own cards HURT his score?

HIs score before getting secureded cards were 530 EQ. after secureds and AU it went to 656 EQ

there is 2 unpaid  charged off collections on report from 2009  ( is it better to pay these off? but im worried that it will renew the date of the 7 years?)

one from Cap 1, and One from 1st Priemr.

His utiliz is 9% he has 3 inq on EQ

Also I'm thinking it would be better if he waited another 6 months before applying

so all his accounts plus AU is over 1 yr point. This would help alot im guessing.

Re: How much did AU help your credit history

@ntx The other guy's actual credit scores don't matter nor does the presence of other baddies on his report. All what matters is the card's particular history and UTIL. As long as the particular card has a clean history, low UTIL and long history than the AU's AAoA then he should get good bump.

Right - sorry, I was actually asking that about the OP's brother, who is wanting another card.  I wasn't very clear though.
