How to figure out new AAOA from AU

I'm trying to figure the change to AAOA if I add two new AU accounts.

This is my current Situation:

WF visa   - 1yr 4mo.     S Loan -   1yr 9mo

Chase     -        6mo      S Loan-    1yr 9mo

Discover -         6mo      S Loan-         10mo

Barclays -          6mo     S Loan-          10mo

I'm gonna add 2 AU accounts of a family member

Macys - 6yr 10mo

Kohls -  6yr   8mo

What would be my new AAOA?    Also would it be the same if I add as AU or would it better to add as joint?

Also i don't have any store cards, would i get fico points for that?

thanks in advance. This site has helped me tremendously!

Re: How to figure out new AAOA from AU

Well you AAoA would go from 1 year to 2 years 2 months if you get added as an AU, so that would be beneficial.  You do not need to be added as a Joint Applicant for the benefit.

What is your goal from doing this?  Are you looking to get more credit?

How are the payment history on the cards you are looking to be added as AU?   Credit cards are always better than store.

Re: How to figure out new AAOA from AU

I was thinking it would be like 1 year and like 8 months but i was doing the calulation in my head.  I would think that the multiple accounts with just 6 months history would be it down even with adding those two accounts with 6 + years of history.

My understanding is that each account is rounded up by year and then averaged.

(2 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 7 + 7 ) / 6 = 3 yrs 4 mos.

Does not matter if AU or joint.   Store cards count as well.

Re: How to figure out new AAOA from AU

I plan to apply for a 3-4 cards in 6 months.

I want better rewards and sign up bonus.

So i figure if i have i show longer history..I can get approved for cards like

Citi Hilton sign. and Amex bce . While recieving $600 just for opening a few accounts.

What do you think my chances are? also I have no negatives, also i keep utilz under 10%

My highest CL right now is 4500 with discover

Re: How to figure out new AAOA from AU

Here how you do it :

  • add up all the months till current Dec 2012 = Example 234
  • Lets' said you have total of 7 account :    234 : 7 = 33.43 Divide again for 12 months . 33.43 : 12 = 2.78 AAOA.
  • Hope its help.
