Re: Capital One Exec Office - Step by Step

Thanks for that information P! I will be calling Chase (Backdoor #) tomorrow to see if I can vouch for more, and see if they can use the recent hard pull to do a manual review on the account! If they say no I won't fight, I will just play the waiting game, and go back in my cave! As for the PC information thanks for that, I just read your Cap1 story, and am looking forward to going the PC route, so when I get a call (hopefully soon) I shall ask if I can PC to the green card, with a higher limit! (Hopefully 5k, will ask them if they can match my chase limit) If it is possible with a lower limit, I shall take that offer, as being able to PC will be a better option b/c I can just wait 6months to a year to get the CLI to where I want on the green card and keep the credit history, rather then sticking with the Journey card and not getting any CLI as I just found out it is a starter card to help build credit up, so no matter how high my credit score is, it will only increase a little, and I believe it has a maximum limit that it can be increased to! (Sad face) but even though it has such a small limit, it has helped me get to where I'm at now, and I have tor respect that! (Only reason I will never close it). But I shall keep everyone posted on how everything plays out in the next week or so! Smiley Happy

Ah, I didn't know the Journey was a rebuilder card.  My C1 Platipus Rebuilder had a hard limit that it couldn't pass as well.  In that case I agree, definitely ask for a PC to the Green Cash card.

Re: Capital One Exec Office - Step by Step

I am currently on Step 2. Here's my e-mail to the Exec office (let me know if I f'ed up)

Dear Mr. Fairbank,

I am writing to you as a Capital One customer that has been in good standing with your company since my current 'builder' credit card was granted to me in November 2011. Since that time, I have never missed a payment, and I have received additional prime credit cards from other banks with limits ranging from $2K-$7.5K. Meanwhile, Capital One has not approved my multiple requests for either a credit limit increase, which has remained at a very restrictive level of $750, or product change, such as from my current Platinum card to a Venture Rewards card.

It is disappointing to see that, despite my responsible use of your products, as well as receiving cards from other banks with more attractive benefits and usable limits, Capital One does not value my business on the same level.

I would appreciate it if you can put me in touch with a credit analyst or other party who is in a position to review my request and ideally provide me with some more attractive products or options that do not require me applying for a new credit card account. I have included my online chat log with a Capital One representative for your reference.

Yours Sincerely,
(name, phone #, email)

Taben: Hi (name).
Taben: How may I assist you today?
you: I would like to see if there are any offers for my account. My current CapitalOne credit card does not offer any benefits, and my limit has been only $750.
you: My other credit cards with other banks have credit limits of $2K, $5K, and $7.5K, and I would hope CapitalOne would have also have a competitive product for me
Taben: Are you referring to credit limit increase?
you: I am referring to a product change, such as to a Venture card
you: without reapplying
Taben: let me access your account and check that for you right now.
Taben: In order to access your account, please provide your name (exactly as it appears on your credit card), zip code, date of birth and last four digits of your Social Security number.
you: (information withheld from this e-mail for security reasons)
Taben: To ensure I have the correct account can you please provide me with the last four digits of your Capital One account number?

Taben: Thank you.  Please bear with me a moment while I review your account information.
Taben: Thank you for your patience.
Taben: I see that your account is currently not having any offers. If you wish, I can go ahead and provide you the link to apply for the Venture Card.
Last text message receivedTaben: (name), would that be okay?
you: No, I do not want to apply for a new card. I am disappointed that there are no offers for my account, despite on-time payments.
you: Goodbye.

Re: Capital One Exec Office - Step by Step

when you get a PC does that reset the account date? My oldest card is an Orchard Bank card and don't want to lose my account time. Does it always require a HP?

Re: Capital One Exec Office - Step by Step

Just got the call from Cap1 EO saying they had been forwarded my e-mail. After a discussion on what I was looking for, the analyst offered to add 1% cash back to my card and put in the CLI request (I requested $5K). The analyst said he would get back to me with the result on Monday or Tuesday. Surprised at the quick callback, and, while not impressed with the benefits I was offered, hoping the CLI will go through! Thanks for the guide, it seems to be working as advertised!

Re: Capital One Exec Office - Step by Step

Checked my account this morning and they increased my CL from $750 to $2,500. I had asked for an increase to $5,000, but better than nothing I guess...

Re: Capital One Exec Office - Step by Step

Well congrats!  Smiley Happy

It's been over 10 days since I got the EO phone call and I've heard nothing further (no CLI and no denial) and no change when I check online.  Someone dropped the ball.  Smiley Sad   The guy on the phone did sound really tired.  lol  I guess I'll wait a few more days, go back a step and re-email.
