I Closed my First Premier Account. Can I reopen?

Does anybody know the general rules regarding a closed account?  I paid my accounts in full earlier this summer, then decided to close them.  What are their policies on reopening a card?  Are they going to charge me all those ridiculous fees that they did years ago when I first got the account?  Just wondering if anybody could help me with what I am to expect...  Thanks!

mactionY2K5, I moved your post over here as you'd have a better chance in getting the question answered.

Allowing you to reopen the CC is completely up to the issuer. I can't speak to First Premier. Why did you want the card reopened?

When I closed mine, they told me I could reopen within 90 days.
Here we go again...

I closed and decided to shop around for other cards.  The other cards I got still charge me an annual fee, as does First Premier, and their interest rates are higher than the 9.9% with FP.  I guess I have to wait until I am a lot older to get the really great cards that have lower interest rates and no AF.

Re: I Closed my First Premier Account. Can I reopen?

I'm thinking about closing out my 1st premier card and taking $300 to either WF or BofA for a secured card (possibly both in December and close out my Indigo card).  I had the card open for less than 2 months and i'm in the low 600's (I would love to have a 800+) and could possibly go higher with a pay off from a collection agency.  Only thing, I hate that I will be paying off $179 in fees for 2 months of holding this card.  I would like to possibly build my credit limit to an unsecured $1000 and since these cards seem to be good cards to have, these are the ones that I decided upon.

I do have one question....if I pay off 1st Premier in a few weeks and want to close my account thereafter, what would be the steps to achieve this goal "successfully" without any additional fees?

I had good luck with Orchard, Merrick (high int but no fees), Juniper, HSBC, and I closed FP the moment I got it.  They are crazy.  I also had a BK.

They were all unsecured.

once your fico scores and income, etc are high enough you'll be in the driver's seat. age isn't really a hinderance so long as you are an adult.

chalk it up to experience, better to wait until you've obtained better options b4 dumping what you have.  most issuers seem to time bar the reopening of accts somewhere between 30 and 90 days after closure.

Absolutely.......that is what they live for. Do yourself a favor and shop around for better cards and leave this card closed. Remember you closed it for a reason.  First Premier, Orchard , New Millennium etc. You can defiantly  do better... I wish you the best

Keep it closed and look around for better rebuilder cards.
