Alright let's jump right to it!
Made mistake in the past a couple of my CC went default, my student loans went default.
For the last few years I couldn't get any CC but secure cards of 200-500$... As I was getting those cards I also finally found a job!
now it has been 3 years I have been paying for those defaulted accounts and all my previous collection CC have been paid off 3 years ago, I kept on using those secured cards (Cap1)
And as the years goes by I am getting better and better CC. I cut all the secured cards and cards with yearly fees.
As of last week I was with 3 CC (1k, 750, 750). I was browsing online and why the hell not applied for a Amex blue Everyday... Approved with 8k
FICO: 704
Credit: 675
Income: 100k
Well if Amex is giving me a shot why not try with the others... WRONG
Applied with Discover... Approved with only 1k CL
Applied for a Chase Freedom Prefered... Letter... Probably Declined.
Resquested a CLI with Barclay, my old 1K card... declined
Someone help me understand... What should be my next move?
i have been for the past 3 years on time every time and pay way more the min payment.
thanks
A few things:
Issuers have different criteria, and different criteria for each card. Everyday is new, so they may be pushing it by lowering minimum requirements. In any case, Amex isn't harder than the others, it's not a simple ordering
Different reports might be pulled. So one issuer sees something different from another, which can also influence the decision
The pull from Amex would have lowered your score.
Call recon and plead your case. The numbers for the lenders you mentioned can be found with a quick forum search.
Regardless of what you do, you're going to have to fight for more credit until those charge offs fall off your reports. Good luck.
It wasn't a question of hard or easy...
why would Amex accept my application and award me with 8k
and yet get a low 1k with Discover and 2 decline with my current CC and Chase?

My point 1, issuers have different criteria, for both acceptance and CL.
Alright... Understood.
you seam to have lots of cards, what would you think the best course of action is moving foward?
i mean it has been 3 years I am paying all my loans a month a the time and never miss any payments, loans or cards.
remaining balance is about 20k.
All I am trying to do is get to a high CL overal so that my % Usage goes down!
i don't use CC that much I mainly use my Debit for all my purchases.
so techincaly my overal Credit should be: 8+1+1+.75+.75 or 11.5k
call chase backdoor number now... I bet they tell you they need to transfer you to security and you answer those 3 questions right and they will give you your instant approval and CL now.
call the backdoor for barclay and have a chat too.
Whats that backdoor thing? With my past hick up I kinda gave up on CC. Grown up a little since then and now I realize that not using CC is silly. But given my past record it has been difficult getting credit.
Any help is appreciated!
