I currently have over 24,000 points on my Amex.
I want to get a statement credit to be applied to my card for these.
When i click on the "Use points", it takes me to a screen that shows I can use 22,500 of the points for a $300 credit.
Then when I click the "Redeem for Cash Back" button (which states is the button you use it to be applied to your credit statement), it takes me to a page that ask how many denominations I want with a drop down box to pick 1, 2, 3, and so on.
It has the option of using denominations of $25 or $50.
When I put it on $50 and put 3 in the box, it tells me that it takes 19,500 points. If I try to do 4 of the $50, then it tells me that I don't have enough points to use that amount and that I need 26,000 points. This doesn't make any sense. 3x50 would only be $150 credit. 4x50 would only be a $200 credit. I have enough credits to get $300 in credits.
What am I doing wrong? Am I supposed to do it a different way? So confused.

This is Blue Sky? I think that this is one of the cards where the best reward "exchange rate" is for travel, you get a worse rate if trying for statement credit (apparently 6,500 points for $50). Blue Sky is a travel rather than a cash back card.

Yes, this is Blue Sky.
I have spent several thousands on vacation using it and they told me that I had $300 coming to me to be applied toward my bill. It's still the same as cash back or credit back on your statement. I'm just having a problem figuring out how to apply it.
I don't have the Blue Sky any more, so it might have changed, but is there an option apart from statement credit about redeeming against travel purchases? As you say, for travel you can get $100 for 7,500. I think the option you are choosing is the more general one where you want a statement credit for non-travel purchases.
Yea, I seen a button with that. For some reason I was thinking it was to "book" for travel using them (since they had mentioned that you could do that).
I'll have to check it out. Thanks.
I did finally figure it out. You do have to request the travel button and it gives you the full value. Woo Hoo...I just got a $300 credit and still have points left.
